Paper, Plastic or Reusable Bags?

Paper, Plastic or Reusable bags are something one is asked when they are going to the grocery store by the bagger. Which one is best to use will rely on the judgment of each shopper and making an educated decision will help, but who will be the one to inform the public? Most people when they go to the grocery store really do not pay attention to what type of bag they use because they just want to get in and out. What happens if you do buy the reusable bags and forget to use them or leave that at home? To me it seems like a good idea that is just not followed through with.
So which is better paper or plastic? I found several articles that help answer the question, but ultimately the decision is ours and sometimes doing the right thing may be influenced by what your friends are doing. How many of you have been influenced to recycle because your friends do it? I am more likely to recycle if I am someplace that has garbage buckets that say paper or plastic. The company’s who make the recyclable bags will make your options seem clear if you happen to go to their website, and they can make a nice profit in the process. People can make money off of “Going Green,” and help the environment as well and the important question is how can we sustain our efforts? How do we know that our efforts are enough and what about those people who just do not care and are wasteful?
At Planet Earth Bag they are using the slogan “Reduce, Recycle and Reuse,” and are promoting three types of bags on their website, the shopping, grocery, and the hot and cold bag sound like just the perfect product for people who want to converse on waste. The website entices companies to, but their logo on the bag and promoting the environment will also make companies appear to make people think that they are making a contribution. With any corporation a certain amount of waste is to be expected but will the influence at work and home have a lasting effect on how companies cut back on waste?  That is a loaded question and I hope that people are taking steps to cut back on waste of paper and plastic. Here is the website if you want to check out what Planet Earth is offering up for advice. http://www.planetearthbag.com/environment/
